With the colder weather now upon us the City Council is making a special plea for residents to help them to offer support to people sleeping rough. The City’s rough sleeper outreach team works tirelessly to engage with rough sleepers and the homeless to help make sure they get the support they need.
If you are concerned about a rough sleeper, especially during the cold weather, please call the team now on FREEPHONE 0808 168 0414 or email brighton.rsssrt@cri.org.uk You should leave details of where you have seen the person so that the team can look for them and offer assistance. The team can help them get medical and benefits advice that can make a big difference. There is specialist support available for difficult issues such as drug and alcohol problems that may be making their search for accommodation more difficult. In some cases the team can also help rough sleepers to find the support they need elsewhere in places with which they have a local connection.
The City’s rough sleeper team is run by the charity CRI on behalf of the council, which commissions and funds the service.
