Christmas party – 5th December volunteers wanted!
Are you gorgeous, charismatic and look great wearing a reindeer hat …? Or maybe just happy to lend a hand for our annual FOPA Christmas party :0) It’s quite a bit of fun, and all ideas are welcome about what type of party we should run this year.
Save our Post Office deadline 16 Sept to fill in form!
Keep Western Road Crown Post Office (22 Western Road, Hove BN3 1AF) open and don’t “merge” it with Melville Road Post Office.
Composting closure
Following lengthy consultations about endemic problems at our composting facility it was, in the end, closed. Key problems were lack of volunteer support, unsuitability of the appliances provided and vermin infestation.

Summer Picnic – Sunday 20th September
2pm – 4pm. Suggested date for our annual FOPA picnic! All welcome, friends and family. Pimms jugs from FOPA, just bring picnic food to share. A great chance to meet up with friends, and see what FOPA’s about if you’re not a member. Will be cancelled if weather bad.
A Future for our Post Office!
According to Post Office bosses, our local Brunswick post office is no longer “commercially sustainable” (Argos, July 2105) and set to close, merging with one in Melville Road.
Dog poisoning sausages laced with slug pellets
The RSPCA and Police have issued warnings to the public to be careful walking dogs after a spate of deaths and dog poisoning around Hove and Portslade. Sausages laced with slug pellets were found in the Cuckoo Trail in Hailsham.
7 May elections – vote at the Cornerstone polling station
The next elections are on Thursday 7 May 2015. Hove seems something of a political fulcrum according to the Guardian – “Brighton’s more grown-up neighbour has a record of predicting the national winner – activists are concentrating here, as elsewhere, on floating voters”
