Communal Bin Consultation – Update on questionnaire and meetings
The Council has today circulated a letter to all residents confirming that the date for return of the consultation questionnaire has been extended until Sunday, 18th September. If you’ve not done so already, we would urge you to complete either the paper questionnaire or to go to www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/communalrecycling and have your say.
It’s all a load of rubbish!
We all want cleaner streets but the council seem to be disregarding residents’ views by sending out a very basic questionnaire that doesn’t include previous consultations, advice and detailed suggestions from residents.
Spot the difference! … call 101 to keep our gardens safe
To prevent a repeat of this, you need to call 101 or fill out the Sussex Police online form to report it.
LAT update – farewell to our PCSO Julie
David Ward and David Sewell kindly attend our regular LAT meetings with other local resident groups, on behalf of FOPA. Key points for June’s meeting are below:
Communal rubbish bins in Adelaide Crescent and Palmeira Square
On 15th March the City Infrastructure team will be asking Brighton and Hove Council’s Environmental, Transport and Sustainability Committee to authorise a consultation about installing communal rubbish bins in Adelaide Crescent and Palmeira Square. Brunswick and Sussex Squares will be consulted at the same time.
Rough sleepers
Hove Police have contacted FOPA to inform members & where possible all residents. Apparently there is a new problem with rough sleepers getting into the buildings in order to find somewhere to sleep. To do this they are often using the ‘Trade button’ on the intercom as they have discovered that in many cases it…
Rubbish & recycling consultation request from cityclean
We had some discussions a while ago about the pros and cons of bins in our cellars or the larger communal bins in our area. There was heated debate and it was left unresolved. We have now had a recent note from Ollie our local Green councillor, from the council department overseeing CityClean – ‘the binmen’.
Anti-social behaviour – update
We held a meeting specifically to address the anti-social behaviour over the summer months in Adelaide and Palmeira Gardens. Despite just a few days notice, around 30 FOPA members arrived for the meeting just before the bank holiday, signalling the strength of feeling about this issue, and representing the full cross-section of residents living in…
Noise and disturbances – phone 101 immediately
The ongoing disturbances over the summer from youths in the gardens seems to be taken seriously after several complaints and discussions from FOPA representatives at our Brunswick & Adelaide LAT (local action team) meetings. Our local councillor Ollie Sykes emailed the following report 18 July 2014.
